AISI 316L – AISI 316L stainless steel strip

Description

AISI 316L (EN 1.4404, X2CrNiMo17-12-2) is the low-carbon version of AISI 316 and one of the most requested stainless grades for technical applications. Molybdenum provides excellent resistance to chlorides and weak acids, while carbon limited to 0.030% prevents intergranular corrosion after welding. It is widely used in the medical, pharmaceutical, food, chemical, marine and sensor industries. 3S supplies AISI 316L precision strip annealed 2R/BA with a bright surface and work-hardened 2H for spring components, as strip, narrow strips from 3 mm, spools with inner diameters from 50 to 400 mm and sheets, from 0.05 to 0.70 mm (annealed) and from 0.05 to 2.50 mm (work-hardened).

Properties

  • Excellent resistance to chlorides and aggressive media
  • Low carbon for welded components
  • Bright BA surface, also suitable for visible parts
  • Available annealed 2R/BA or work-hardened 2H

Frequently asked questions

Request a quote
Can 316L be supplied on spools?
Yes. 316L strip is available on spools with inner diameters from 50 to 400 mm and weights from approximately 15 to 1500 kg, as well as in narrow strips from 3 mm and sheets cut to size.
Is AISI 316L magnetic?
Annealed, it is non-magnetic. Its higher nickel makes the austenite more stable than in 304, but heavy cold reduction, as in the 2H condition, can still induce slight magnetism.

How can I get a quote?

Tell us the alloy, finish, thickness, width, edge and format (strip/narrow strip/spool) and we will send you a quick quotation.
