Welded and interlocked flexible hoses

The strip is continuously formed and welded, or profiled and spirally interlocked, to produce flexible and corrugated hoses. They carry gas, water, steam, flue gases and industrial fluids, where flexibility and tightness must go together.

In continuously welded tube, the strip width determines the tube diameter and the edge condition directly affects TIG, plasma or laser weld quality. In interlocked hose, regular width and thickness ensure a uniform, tight lock seam. 3S supplies stainless strip in AISI 304, 316L, 316Ti, 321, 309 and 310S with tight width tolerances to EN or ASTM, clean edges and 100% dimensional control. The bright annealed 2R/BA finish combines formability with a clean surface. Spools with an inner diameter of 50 to 400 mm and weights up to 1500 kg enable continuous production with few interruptions.

Frequently asked questions

Request a quote
How important is width tolerance for welded tube?
Very: strip width defines the developed length and therefore the tube diameter. Consistent width reduces forming line adjustments and improves edge alignment at the weld.
Which finish is needed for corrugated and flexible hose?
Formed, corrugated or interlocked hose usually uses annealed 2R/BA strip, which offers good formability and a clean surface that is also suitable for welding. Tolerances are to EN or ASTM.
