AISI 904L stainless steel strip
High nickel, molybdenum and copper: resists acids and pitting corrosion.

Description
AISI 904L (EN 1.4539, X1NiCrMoCu25-20-5) is a highly alloyed super-austenitic stainless steel: around 25% nickel, 20% chromium, 4–5% molybdenum and a copper addition. Its very low carbon and rich chemistry make it suitable for highly corrosive environments, particularly sulphuric and phosphoric acid, high-chloride waters and conditions where stress corrosion cracking is a risk. It is used in chemical and petrochemical plant, desalination, pollution control, marine components and watchmaking. 3S supplies 904L precision strip in the annealed 2R/BA condition, as strip, narrow strips, spools and sheets from 0.05 to 0.70 mm.
Properties
- Excellent resistance to sulphuric and phosphoric acid
- High resistance to pitting and stress corrosion cracking
- Stable, non-magnetic austenitic structure
- Very low carbon, good weldability
