AISI 410S – AISI 410S stainless steel strip

Description

AISI 410S (EN 1.4000, X6Cr13) is a stainless steel with about 13% chromium and low carbon, with an essentially ferritic structure. The restricted carbon limits hardenability and improves weldability and formability compared with conventional 410. It is magnetic, economical and offers corrosion resistance suitable for dry or mildly aggressive environments, as well as reasonable oxidation resistance at moderate temperatures. It is used for mechanical components, magnetic parts, laminations, gaskets, appliance parts and components for thermal equipment. 3S supplies AISI 410S precision strip in the annealed condition, as strip, narrow strips, spools and sheets in thicknesses from 0.05 to 0.70 mm.

Frequently asked questions

Request a quote
What is the difference between 410 and 410S?
410S has lower carbon, which reduces hardenability and brittleness after welding while improving formability. Standard 410 is designed to be hardened by heat treatment to reach high hardness levels.
Is 410S as corrosion resistant as 304?
No. With about 13% chromium and no nickel, its corrosion resistance is lower than 430 and 304. It suits dry or protected environments where magnetism and cost are the priorities.
