Special alloy strip

Super-austenitic, duplex and nickel alloys for corrosive environments and high temperatures.

When standard stainless steel is not enough

Acids, chlorides, seawater and high temperatures challenge even 316L. For these applications 3S supplies precision strip in special alloys: the super-austenitic AISI 904L and 254 SMO, Duplex 2205 and the nickel alloys Alloy 625 and Alloy 800, with the same processing as standard stainless steel strip.

Each alloy has its own field: 904L resists sulphuric and phosphoric acid; 254 SMO, with 6% molybdenum, resists pitting and crevice corrosion in seawater and brines; Duplex 2205 combines high mechanical strength with resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking; Alloy 625 (nickel-chromium-molybdenum-niobium) withstands the most aggressive environments and high temperatures; Alloy 800 (800/800H/800HT, iron-nickel-chromium) resists oxidation and carburisation at high temperature. We supply annealed strip from 0.05 to 0.70 mm, in widths from 3 to 1250 mm, as coils, narrow strips and spools, with EN 10204 3.1 certificate and no minimum order.

Where it is used

  • Spiral wound gaskets for chemical and petrochemical plants
  • Flexible hoses and bellows for aggressive fluids
  • Flue liners and chimney pipes for condensing and biomass boilers
  • Structured packing and column internals
  • Heat exchangers, desalination and offshore installations
  • Furnaces, heating elements and high-temperature components

Frequently asked questions

Request a quote
Which special alloy should I choose?
It depends on the fluid and the temperature: 904L for sulphuric and phosphoric acid, 254 SMO for chlorides and seawater, Duplex 2205 when mechanical strength and stress corrosion resistance are also needed, Alloy 625 for the most aggressive environments and Alloy 800 for high temperatures. Tell us the operating conditions and we will propose the alloy.
Do you also supply special alloys in small quantities?
Yes, with no minimum order: even a few kilos for prototypes and spare parts, in the width you need, with a 3.1 heat certificate.
