Stainless steel strip for stamping and blanking

Stamping and blanking

Progressive stamping turns strip into finished parts with every press stroke. Strip with consistent thickness, width and mechanical properties reduces scrap, adjustments and tool wear.

In a progressive die, the strip is the first component of the process: camber, edge burr, or variations in thickness or mechanical properties between batches lead to adjustments, scrap and die wear. 3S supplies stainless strip in 2R/BA finish or work-hardened 2H, with thicknesses from 0.05 to 0.70 mm (annealed) and from 0.05 to 2.50 mm (work-hardened), widths from 3 to 1250 mm and tolerances to EN or ASTM, verified by 100% dimensional control. Edges can be slit or deburred. Material is available on spools with parallel or traverse winding for continuous feeding, as strip and cut lengths, or as sheets for shorter runs.

Frequently asked questions

Request a quote
How should I specify strip for a progressive die?
Give us the grade, condition (2R/BA or 2H), thickness, width, tolerance standard, edge type and spool inner diameter. With the part drawing we can suggest possible optimisations.
Spool or conventional coil?
A spool holds far more length in the same footprint and reduces coil changes, making it ideal for long runs and fast presses. For short runs, strip or cut lengths are enough.
