Insulating glass spacers

The spacer keeps the panes of an insulating glass unit apart and holds the desiccant. Profiles made from thin stainless strip reduce thermal bridging compared with conventional profiles and improve the insulation of the window.

Stainless steel conducts heat far less than aluminium and, used in very thin gauges, further reduces the thermal bridge at the edge of the insulating glass unit. Spacers are roll formed at high speed, so thickness and width must stay consistent over long lengths to avoid section variations and roll former stoppages. 3S supplies thin stainless strip with EN or ASTM tolerances and 100% dimensional control, in a 2R/BA finish with a clean surface suited to sealant adhesion. Spools up to 1500 kg, with parallel or traverse winding, provide long continuous lengths and reduce joints.

Frequently asked questions

Request a quote
Why does a stainless spacer improve insulation?
Stainless steel has much lower thermal conductivity than aluminium and, in thin gauges, further reduces heat flow along the edge of the glazing unit, limiting condensation and heat loss.
In which formats do you supply spacer strip?
On spools with an inner diameter of 50 to 400 mm and weights from 15 to 1500 kg, with parallel or traverse winding, in the width your roll former requires.
